whether a laptop would be beneficial in this position. Concern was expressed that an informed person make the decision about replacing the equipment. John Yates offered to look at the present equipment and software if the presbytery agreed.
Motion by Susan Woodhouse, seconded by Bill Milliken and carried that the Presbytery may replace the computer, monitor and software. Clarification was sought and John Yates was advised to replace computer, monitor and software as needed.
CHAIR’S THEME: Just Relate!
Carolyn Wynne Wilson reminded the Presbytery that when they met at Central United they were meeting on the traditional lands of the Chippewa’s of Aamjiwnaang. She said to acknowledge this is an important step in our journey toward a right relationship with not only the people of Aamjiwnaang but all those whose roots go back eons before the time of First Contact. She said as a presbytery we are in a unique position to gain first hand an understanding of the issues that the women, men and children of Aamjiwnaang face daily. She said there is a Right Relations group at the Conference level. She said as part of the Social Justice Committee they are small in number and energy. She posed a “what if” – presbytery was to become the Right Relations Home Group for Conference. She said it
makes sense as three of the conference group are live in this presbytery and we have fortunate enough to have First Nation Community and ministry here. Being a home group would mean that we invite other in the conference with a passion for Right Relations to join with us and learn from and with the people of Aamjiwnaang. She invited members to speak to here if they felt “a spark might be burning” for another way to “Just Relate!”
Chair Carolyn Wilson Wynne thanked Mary Anne MacFarlane, Bob Towers, Fred Abma and those in the kitchen who provided the dinner. She ended with prayer.
Motion to adjourn was moved by Jim Breen and carried. Adjournment at 7:45 p.m.
